“Work with the land to be well healed by the earth.”
This eco-tourism and boutique community homestay is a visionary project that harmoniously blends luxury, nature, and culture into a holistic destination for wellness, exploration, and healing. Designed as a sustainable retreat, the resort integrates high-end accommodations, dining venues, a spa, an eco-center, MICE facilities, a reception, and an activity hub, each thoughtfully embedded within the natural landscape. At the heart of the resort is the belief that true healing comes from reconnection with nature, with community, and with oneself. Drawing on the principles of horticultural therapy, the design encourages guests of all ages to restore balance to overworked minds and bodies through meaningful interaction with the land. This sanctuary offers a reprieve from the pace of urban life, creating a restorative space where nature leads the way.
Set on a manmade island shaped by generations of agricultural heritage, the site benefits from the river’s enduring presence—a source of fresh water that has long sustained the surrounding farmland. A dramatic waterwheel introduces water into the resort’s landscape, forming an iconic central lake. Together with the existing network of canals, this system ensures a year-round natural irrigation cycle and enhances the ecological vitality of the site. The resort’s program is distributed across the landscape, encouraging exploration and discovery. Inspired by the local context and natural resources, the master plan features four distinct New Linpan Theme Areas—Garden Linpan, Water Linpan, Farming Linpan, and Urban Linpan—each with its own architectural language and experiential quality. Guests are invited to wander, engage, and immerse themselves in the diverse expressions of place.Panoramic views of surrounding farmlands, riverways, and distant mountains are framed from second-story terraces of residences, restaurants, and other communal areas, grounding the visitor in the island’s unique setting. Architecturally, the project draws inspiration from the vernacular of the Sichuan Basin, reinterpreting traditional forms and materials through a modern lens. The result is a contemporary yet culturally resonant built environment that honors the region’s rich heritage while offering modern comfort and timeless beauty. Each homestead across the island reflects a different facet of Sichuan’s architectural identity, offering guests a fully immersive journey through the cultural and aesthetic diversity of the region.
