The design of the Specialty Guest Residences is inspired by the spatial and cultural richness of Chuanxi Linpan traditional Sichuan rural compounds known for their integration with farmland, water systems, and forested lots. Layered with influences from traditional Chinese wandering water gardens, the Linpan Courtyard concept creates a serene, immersive retreat that unfolds like a living landscape painting.
Each Linpan Courtyard is an organic composition of architecture and nature, seamlessly weaving together residence buildings, courtyards, water features, trees, and pavilions into a cohesive spatial system. At the heart of each courtyard lies a central pavilion and small landscape feature, acting as a visual and social anchor around which the guest units are arranged. These courtyards are embraced by lush woodlands, which transition gracefully into expansive surrounding farmlands, blurring the boundary between built environment and nature.
Carefully placed irrigation streams flow through or alongside the courtyards, linking them into the resort’s broader hydrological and spatial hierarchy. These gentle waterways, inspired by traditional water garden design, guide movement and provide moments of reflection throughout the guest experience. As guests wander through the site, each step reveals a new scene—a shaded grove, a quiet pavilion, a view across golden fields—reflecting the poetic logic of traditional Chinese landscape planning.
The architectural vocabulary is grounded in regional tradition yet interpreted with restraint and refinement. The result is a space that not only reflects the spirit of Chuanxi Linpan living but also evokes the timeless elegance of wandering gardens, offering guests an ever-changing experience of discovery, cultural depth, and deep connection to the land.
